Subject: Synthetic Blood

;

I've heard of synthetic blood, manufactured by a French researcher. It
doesn't have blood alubim/plasma only a chemical compound(s) that mimic
the red blood cell. Doesn't even have white-blood cells, or any
biological cells or components at all. Something like the liquid "air"
navy divers breathe in re-inforced suits (ref: Abyss movie).

So the syn-blood doesn't decomposed or gets rejected by any blood group.
He said it could be used in mass emergencies (mabye even ER & trauma
centres) as it can simply be _manufactured_ and not donated.

Possibly even useful for Aids applications, the problem is even if the
human body regenrates its natural blood after a few hours, it will come
with the Aids virus. But its pretty good for safe transfusions - just
that your body need to recycle the whole thing, no difference though but
it's better than some contaminents in a donor's blood.

For coz, it might also prolong the life of an Aids carrier, but this
isn't done with donor's blood, because regular transfusion is needed.
Imagine the poeple donating to sustain a Aids patient on a regular basis
indefinitely. But with manuactured blood, that would be relatively
cheap. However, the basic problem is the bone marrow is infect. In fact
even replacing the bone marrow, won't cure, becuase every cell in the
body has been infected with the Aids virus.

It is good profits for corporation to the military though. Or high-risk
professional sports people. Esp. the hospitals and trauma centres. Now
that's a biggie like siting on a mountain of gold coins. :)

It may have some applications in experimental drug therapy - where pure
syn-blood is introduced to some drug to see its effects. It fact, it
would be almost like a test-tube reaction, but contained in a human
body, to see the effect of natural body chemicals vs the drugs - instead
of blood impurities and other foreign chemicals/drugs/medication etc.

Of coz, we must test for races, age and sex differences in accepting
this syn-blood. But then again it should be no problem - just add some
hormone /organ transplant chemical/etc. But this isn't a problem with
real blood anyway...

What do you think?

Best Regards,
Crystal.
