Y2K One More Time; Re: Postings By Charles Platt and Peter Merel

I just saw a TV news clip about our local power utility company's
Y2K preparedness. B.C. Hydro Authority, as the name suggests a
hydropwer based utility, supplies all our provincial power
demand, more than 90% directly and the rest through a contract
distributor, but also supplies significant amounts of electricity
to Washington state and California.

B.C. Hydro have their Y2K conversion substantially completed and
are now involved in testing their system section by section by
advancing the clock to past 1/1/2000. So far they have found
some minor glitches, but nothing that would have caused any power
disruption.

So I don't know about the rest of you, but Doug Skrecky and I
will be sitting pretty snug. - Now if we could just be equally
reassured, that our winter veggies will keep on coming up from
the States. :)

Come think of it, B.C. just won't let us freeze, - neither at the
turn of the millennium (-1 yr.) nor cryonically.

Best,
Olaf
