Subject: cracking

Keith Dugue (#10967)asks about brain cracking with current procedures.

Several years ago Cryonics Institute's perfusion and slow cooling method,
applied to sheep heads, showed no cracking. This was verified by Ukrainian
researchers Pichugin and Zhegunov. Absence of cracking was also found by
Ukrainian work with cat brains. Please see our web site for details; go to
"Contents" and then to "Research."

As we test modifications or new procedures, cracking will of course be one of
the possible results monitored--even though some believe that cracking is not
one of the most serious problems, since many cracks are relatively "clean"
with matched edges.
