Subject: Efficient headers

Efficient headers,

Charles Platt has just notified everybody that he is unsubscribing from
cryonet because of the proliferation of items that he does not feel are
related to cryonics. I think that his anger or disgust is partly due to a
real problem of people not using efficient headers. An email message should
have a header that allows recipients to tell immediately whether they want
to read it or not. I suggest that we all take care to use headers that
allow others to skip messages with a minimum of time. Conversely, it will
allow us to scroll fast to messages that are of interest to us.

I find that occasionally I will give up on scrolling down and checking all
the messages that might be of interest to me because of the time involved.
So using good headers will also enhance the chance that people will read
your post when it is at the bottom of the pile.
