In fact, many students use Alcor's site for information. There is a mixture of basic and technical information there. >> I have the occasional bit of anecdotal evidence that cryonics is making >>a deep impression on many young people. A number of years ago I gave a talk at a library where a friend of mine ran a program for teens. Speakers would come in and would all share pizza after the talk. My cryonics talk drew a big crowd and quite a few asked questions until I was hoarse, include my friend's daughter. Recently I got an e-mail from my friend which said that her daughter had faced surgery last year. The night before the surgery she told her Mom that if anything happened, she wanted to be frozen (along with the family dog when the dog died someday!). My friend said that was the hardest conversation she ever had, explaining to her daughter that they couldn't afford to do that. Fortunately, the surgery went well. Interestingly, now that I'm back in Indiana, my friend has invited me to speak to the teens again. Maybe we'll have a bit of a longer conversation afterwards. In any case, I figure that I may have planted a seed like that with a lot of people. In many it will not sprout until it is too late to blossom. But others may face mortality through other family members or through non-lethal illnesses of their own -- and make a move toward saving their lives.
