Subject: Will we get smarter?

YES! (Barring extinction).

While most of our species continue to be controlled by herd mentality, there are
exceptions.

These individual exceptions will almost certainly continue to grow.

Getting smarter is rising above the influence of mass psychology.

Professor Ettinger explained it succinctly in Message #11462:

>...we will not remain primitive--not as a species and not as individuals. The
>revived people will be retrofitted (when they are ready and willing) and
>optimized according to then-current criteria and their own wishes.

Mike Perry in Message #11463 expanded on this as well when he explained:

>Once we are immortal, we will certainly not
>be limited to some particular level of advancement, but open to improvements
>of intelligence and other features. The present, death-based evolutionary
>mechanism, which sacrifices individuals for "the good of the species" will
>give way to personal evolution, which should have no limits other than the
>laws of physics.

I agree.
