X-Message-Number: 11879 From: Thomas Donaldson <> Subject: Mike: I'd like to hear more about "relative consciousness" Date: Fri, 4 Jun 1999 00:33:37 +1000 (EST) To Mike Perry: The notion of relative consciousness IS interesting. I'd like you to expand upon it. So far, at least to me, it's not at all clear just what you mean. It's obvious that (say) cats are conscious, but they are probably not conscious of the same things and events we are, even if they're in the same room and differences in vision (they can see a more restricted range of colors than we can, though they CAN see colors) and hearing (they can hear a wider range of frequencies) are ignored. The difference remains because their brains are different. But I don't think that is at all what you mean. And thanks for the reference to AOL printers. Interesting. I might even check them out --- they might be less expensive than what I do now for my book. Best and long long life to all, Thomas Donaldson Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=11879
