X-Message-Number: 12229 From: Thomas Donaldson <> Subject: to Mac Tonnies Date: Fri, 6 Aug 1999 21:00:38 +1000 (EST) To Mac Tonnies: It doesn't sound as it will save much money. The storage cost would be virtually the same, assuming that we also freeze the body. The operation may be marginally cheaper, in that each part might be done separately, but I'd emphasize the word "marginally". It may even be MORE EXPENSIVE. The head is taken off from the body very late in the procedure; if only the head is wanted, then efforts are taken to perfuse only the head (as I understand). This means that if we want to keep the body, we not only also perfuse it completely, but also take off the head. Frankly, if you think about the damage suspension now does to brains, it's unlikely that if we can repair that we'll for some strange reason be quite unable to provide the patient with a good body. It would be nice to hear from people who actually do suspensions. Best and long long life, Thomas Donaldson Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=12229
