X-Message-Number: 12332 From: Thomas Donaldson <> Subject: to George Smith again: on partial vrs absolute knowledge Date: Thu, 26 Aug 1999 22:09:18 +1000 (EST) To George Smith again: Yes, on philosophical grounds we never really know. However, if we look at what is likely rather than insist on KNOWLEDGE then I'll bet my statements against their contradictions. I myself have spent lots of time (years) keeping up with the scientific literature as it bears on cryonics, and that's why I have the opinion of 21st Century Medicine that I do. I did not just flip a coin. I'm happy to go into much more detail about WHY I believe these things, given that all such beliefs are temporary and await confirmation. But I very definitely do NOT think that we can now say nothing at all about the damage due to current methods or near-future methods which look like they will cause much less damage. Sure, if we insist on absolute knowledge, I don't have absolute knowledge, but neither does anyone else. Best and long long life, Thomas Donaldson Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=12332
