Subject: Why I agree "our generation is completely crazy"

In Message #12422, John de Rivaz commented (in part) on the resistance to
fact:

I agree. Further, the only thing unique today is the degree and quality of
knowledge we now possess, not the attitude of the masses.

I would submit that part of the problem lies in the fact that very few human
beings live long enough now to gain sufficient perspective. Instead most
seek to achieve and maintain acceptance by the social group whether truth
suffers or not. For those of you unaware of it, there is a forgotten book
entitled THE LUCIFER PRINCIPLE which examines these concepts in depth in
terms of biology and history (no theology).

In other words, the vast majority of our species die off before they grow
up.

Children who believe they are adults is the result. Their attitudes
comprise "common wisdom" and usually are based on feelings instead of
reason.

The simple fact that we, as a species, are living longer may eventually turn
the tide as a greater percentage of us actually grow up BEFORE we die.
