This would be particularly easy unless there was someone (e.g. a cryonics organisation) willing to defend it all the time. These defence costs would obviously have to be met from the patient's funds which could be severely depleted as a result by the time he is reanimated. Sorry to be pessimistic - maybe there are lawyers reading this list who can be more optimistic, if so I would certainly be pleased to be able to alter my views, as this is a question very dear to my heart as I would love to be able to think that I could make arrangements to return to my home in the UK after reanimation. At the moment I feel that the legal costs of even trying to make such arrangements would be far more than the property is worth, and their chance of working far less than the technical problems associated with cryopreservation and reanimation. -- Sincerely, John de Rivaz my homepage links to Longevity Report, Fractal Report, my singles club for people in Cornwall, music, Inventors' report, an autobio and various other projects: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/JohndeR ----- Original Message ----- > Message #12454 > From: "Phillip Labry" <> > Subject: Transition of real property > Date: Fri, 24 Sep 1999 09:33:35 -0400 > I was wondering if it is possible to leave your real property to someone with certain legal responsibilities attached to ownership. For example, I leave my land to my son with the obligation that he may not sell it, he may only transfer ownership to others for free while also transferring the same legal obligation of not being able to sell the property. If you can do this and also keep a clause in the contractual agreement that the original owner, upon successful resuscitation, will have the option to reclaim the property you may be able to keep your property available to you for centuries. You may even be able to put a clause that a minimum yearly donation be made to any available cryonics organizations. > > In a way this would be like the legal rights associated with linux. It may be freely used and it is a violation of the "copyleft" to sell it. Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=12458
