He is a fellow futurist and wrote When Computers Surpass Human Intelligence, The Age of Spiritual Machines. It is quite well written, a touch on the optimistic side, and quite an eye opener. The time frame he suggests is very near future. There are a few positive, albeit brief references to cryonics. "The age of Spiritual Machines", which I read several months ago, is fantastic! Those of us who loved "Engines of Creation", "Unbounding the Future", and general science and nontechnical "future tech" will be equally enthusiastic about Kurzweil. I am a little unclear about the above posting, however. Is there a book after "The Age of Spiritual Machines" by Kurzweil? The timeline and the bibliography of suggested readings in Kurzweil is great. It includes the "pantheon of future tech gods" most of us will recognise like Merkle, Drexler, etc. Kurzweil is actually a programmer, and has created advanced speech recognition programs. Not merely a theorist. Highly readable! Get thee to a library today! Warmly, Rudi Hoffman Daytona, FL Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=12521
