Report of the Meeting of the American Cryonics Society
Board of Governors

May 31, 1992
New Cryonics Building
165 Gibraltar Court, Sunnyvale, CA

The meeting was called to order by Dr. Avi Ben-Abraham, President of
thAmerican Cryonics

Society (ACS) at 2:00 p.m. who welcomed members and guests. After discussion of
Agenda items
the meeting was adjourned at 5:45 p.m.

Jim Yount

Publicity

Peter Christiansen and Carmen Brewer spoke with Nippon TV of Japan.
Peter discussed religion and cryonics by telephone with Common
Boundary. Major news with the BioTime experiment. There was
discussion on how we could encourage mention of ACS by the media
doing such stories.

C.I. Contract

Jim passed out copies of our contract with the Cryonics Institute
(CI). The contract will allow our members to chose CI as their
primary suspension and/or long-term storage provider.

Long-Term Storage of Carol

Carol is an ACS member who was recently placed into suspension by
Trans Time. Her husband has assumed the primary responsibility for
determining which of our service providers, Trans Time or the
Cryonics Institute will be used for Carol's long-term cryogenic
storage.

There had also been consideration of ACS cooperating with Carol's
husband and other relatives of ACS members in storage to establish
a storage facility separate from any of our current service
providers. Such a facility might be at 165 Gibraltar Court.
Because establishing separate facilities requires careful thought
and planning and there was a need to place Carol in liquid nitrogen
storage without further delays, most Governors did not favor ACS
establishing its own storage facility or assisting relatives with
such a project presently.

ACS Lease

A lease was signed whereby ACS is to get 500 square feet of office
space and 250 square feet of warehouse space free with ACS paying
equitable rates for any space it needs above this amount. Jim Yount
said it had been the intention of individual investors that ACS should
receive this lease on a long-term basis. As the lease was signed, it
is for nine months only with a 30 day termination clause. Jim Yount
said he was very disappointed that the lease was not for a long term,
as expected. He said objections by Art Quaife to a long-term lease
had prevented the agreement from going ahead as expected. ACS hopes
to work with Trans Time, who owns just under half interest in the
building, to overcome objections and perfect a long term lease.

Norm said Trans Time does not want to subsidize a room for
competition.

Legal Review of ACS Forms

Copies of Jim Bianchi's review of ACS forms for enrollment in our
suspension program and additional forms Jim prepared were presented to
Governors and meeting participants. Copies will soon be made
available to our members.

Purchase of Copy Machine

Jim said one thing we need to buy is a copy machine. One could be
purchased for $800. He asked for authority to go in and evaluate
machines and make purchase. Several Governors felt it would be best
to wait until other organizations such as Trans Time moved into the
building and work out a sharing arrangement. Jim asked to have the
matter left in his hands to which there was no objections raised.

Settling Estate of ACS Member

It was agreed to seek counsel from an attorney to find a way to get
the executor for a member who died a number of years ago to distribute
funds as directed in the member's will. Under that will ACS is to get
the bulk of the member's estate.

Publications

For improving publications a jet printer is needed. The cost would be
about $400 to $500.
