Hello everyone,

I can see how we need thoughful individuals like Thomas Donaldson to be a
calming influence among us. Certainly much more work must be done in the
field of molecular computing to see the advances we would all like.

And yet I enjoy the enthusiasm of George Smith very much. He just does the
unacademic thing of getting excited over things! :) But can't we compliment
him on his very reserved postings of yesterday? Why he discussed the
amazing German advances with DNA without breaking into song! lol

On this list I read of how ineffective present cryonics is in terms of
technology, funds and research. Then in the extropians list I read how
"Santa Nanoclaus" is not coming to visit me for Christmas! Nanotech will
come but not in the bountiful and utopian ways I had envisioned it looks
like.

I have this fantasy where I am reanimated and get handed a nanotech
replicator as a welcome back gift. The human services worker shakes my hand
and tells me to go out and "stake my claim." I file for some land with the
government and then hike out to the site.

I go to work with my replicator the size of a present day large microwave.
Piece by piece I consruct my house and assemble it. Far from spectacular in
appearance and yet it is my new home and I love it. Later I build myself
furniture and then even a skycar. I celebrate by whipping up a great meal
and inviting the neighbors over. Luckily I had the Time-Life series of books
on using your home replicator!

If there is anything we can all agree on it is that we must take good care
of our bodies to make it to the point where cryonics is a far better bet
then at present. I want everyone to commit to being here in the year 2020!
But I do not mean necessarily on this list, that could be torture for some.
lol

I think it takes all types within cryonics. I wish you all well and look
forward to the future as developments unfurl.

Sincerely,

John Grigg
