Actually, de Grey does discuss evolution and comparative aging rates of 
different species. 

For example, from a macro-evolutionary standpoint, one reason larger animals 
tend to live longer is simply that they are less likely to be eaten. 

From a molecular biology standpoint, he also discusses the ways in which his 
theory applies to different species.Also, he has an explanation of how his 
theory fits in with the success of caloric restriction in increasing maximum 
life span of rodents.
