The word "deserving" implies that there is someone or some 
standard that is qualified to judge us about this. I am 
not aware of any such person or standard, but feel free to 
propose one if you like. Until then, I will assume that 
merely wanting to continue to exist is sufficient 
justification for trying to do so.
