Well, I would like to see this 'evidence' which suggests that we will be
competing with
alien civilizations, certainly. Not that I disbelieve a potential exists for
this to be a possibility, especially with aliens are anything like we are or
have a history of conflicts similar to ours. There is nothing in my scope of
knowledge to suggest
either way, competition or cooperation... though for the later, cooperation
is an illusion in politics, or better said it is a temporary solution to a
mutual end being sought by two or more participants.
I certainly would like to expand my own life span, but not for the same
reasons being proclaimed here by other writers of interest in cryonics. I
once thought that we'd all be able to get along, but my experiences both
personal and through my reading of history have proven otherwise. My interest
is only to see just what would be going on in the future and possibly to gain
a small satisfaction of defeating nature or staving off
death for a thousand years or longer, still a small feat considering that if
energy only transforms, then the energy of the mind must continue after death
anyway.
Time, space etc. All .... Ah, I'll write more later. Bye for now.

Tom
