Hello again everyone.

So yesterday I posted about a small blurb in time. Today, Omni comes
in the mail and what is on the front cover but "Win Immortality! $100,000
Cryonics Contest."

Now to those of you closely connected to Alcor, perhaps the fact that
they are cosponsoring a contest for a free suspension along with Omni is not
surprising. But I have routinely read this news group for six months and
haven't seen a word about this being planned or upcomming.

In any case, the article accompanying the contest is essentially a
well written version of the groups FAQ and puts forth cryonics in a fairly
major publication in a better light than I ever expected to see this century.
The article is by Charles Platt, who is aparently signed up for suspension and
covers the standard questions of feasibility and morality.

So, my question to the Alcor insiders on this group would be what
Alcor sees itself as getting out of this. If they wanted positive publicity,
I would say that this is a brilliant coup. The negative aspects of cryonics
are minimized and I think the average Omni reader will go away with a
positive opinion.

Many thanks,
	Ethan Evans
