Subject: Grimes x 2

Two more very peculiar remarks by Jeff Grimes in his #15425:

First, he writes:

>Here's another thought. I would tend to think that when those people of the
future >decide who is worth resuscitating and who is not worth bothering
with, they'll be >likely to choose the people who accepted their
responsibility instead of just taking >it easy and saying "Why worry?"

What in the world is he talking about? Does he imagine that some agency is
going to look at the roster of our patients and then vote on who is "worth"
resuscitating and who is not? Incredible! If this is what he has "learned"
from studying web sites, it is no wonder he has missed a lot.

It's not about "worth" and it's not about "those people." It's about saving
your own life and those of the people you love--just because it is your own
life, and just because you love them, not for any other reason. And the
people making the decisions as to time and details of resuscitation of our
patients will be the officers and directors of CI at the time, among them
probably many friends and relatives of patients, all with a legal and moral
obligation to do their best for the patients, and at CI's expense.

Grimes also writes:

> I don't need more comparisons with Alcor! Personally I am not very
interested in >Alcor since they have no presence in the UK anymore (or so I
have been told). Let's >have the facts and let them speak for themselves.

HE doesn't need information relating to Alcor. However, there are a few other
people reading Cryonet, most of them Americans, and some of them do indeed
need comparisons. Perhaps he will forgive us if we address the others also.

We offer scads of facts, and more all the time, and also our opinions. But in
the end, the potential member has to decide whether to pick an organization
or abstain. Some, like Wakfer and perhaps Grimes, will decide that no
organization meets their standards, and they will therefore refuse to grace
us with their membership, while continuing to offer criticism (and in
Wakfer's case, even help). Suit yourselves, but a little common sense goes a
long way.
