But 20 years is time enough to build an estate with a technology mutual fund
using the difference in cost between term policies and whole life policies.

The added value of a cluster of short term policies would also produce the
situation that if one company defaulted, the other two may still pay up.

Possibly an insurance expert can confirm this, but there may be a problem in
that if you take out a policy the company will ask you if you have any other
policies. Therefore it would be illegal to take out say 3 25K policies with
different companies without each company knowing about the others, and
therefore they could all gang up on you or alternatively the later ones to
be added may wonder if you are deliberately trying to avoid being examined
because you have something to hide.

Ironically, now that technology stocks have fallen and most popular and
sensationalist commentators think that they will never rise again, it is
probably the best time to buy. The underlying laws of science, not
economics, will govern future growth, and if the price/earning and other
economic ratios do not reach such dizzy heights again this is all to the
good. The underlying processes of physics and other branches of science
suggest an annual growth of the order of 25% and if this can continue with
lower PE ratios then so much the better. Don't forget that "dot com"
companies are not technology companies, they are trading companies. Avoid
except for very special situations.
