X-Message-Number: 15540 Date: Fri, 2 Feb 2001 22:18:05 -0500 From: <> Subject: cryonics insurance payoffs (15525) This is a followup to Rudi's message 15525 about insurance payoffs. When i first posted 15443, i should have made a CC to Rudi, who is my insurance agent. And i'd like everybody to know that he has been very helpful: he worked up and provided multiple quotes for me; he communicated by e-mail, mail, and phone; he stepped through the forms, line-by-line, with me; he provided not only with a postage-paid return envelope, but also a pen to use in making the reply (nobody since my dear Aunt Lenore has done that for me); and he even sent me a novel (First Immortal, by Jim Halperin) to read. So, for anybody who's looking for an agent, please consider Rudi, who is also an out-of-the-closet cryonicist. I sought information about which companies had paid off because of the rumors that in one case, somebody was denied. So far, CI has provided a list of who has paid off (see message 15450), and they haven't had any no-pays. John d R also responded with a list of links (see message 15449). What i'd really like to know of course is who did refuse to pay (for whatever valid reasons, see 15443 et seq). And Thomas D has written that sometimes an insurance company can become schlonky (i believe that was his term, don't have the message number at hand). That is, when you first buy, it's good, but years or decades later, it gets bad. But none of this is meant to reflect poorly on Rudi, who has been thoughtful, responsive, and friendly, and who i think really understands the industry. dan Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=15540
