James Swayze ,

Well said. I agree that Singularity-meisters tend to seem oddly theistic.
I have yet to hear a really good reason why the Artificial Intelligence
can't
ride inside a "technogland" in the nervous system. Certainly it can be
argued that one would want a chip the size of Luna, but still....
This is one reason why I am putting all my energies towards understanding
the Human side if the equation..the physiology and neurology and genetics,
rather than be yet another programmer type.
People who work closely with computers tend to "personify" them, I wonder
if those who create them tend to "spiritualize" them to the point of
deification.
We all have our blind spots.
I tend to "deify" neuroscience and psychology. But I recognize this so
hopefully as Lao Zi says "the real man recognizes his great flaw, and thus
he is without flaw". I think that once we have neural interface with our
machines
we will find out just how hard it is to place real
thought/sentience/mindstuff
into the chips. And it may be harder than we think.
