Paul Wafker writes that ideas can never be dangerous. Nonsense! What a
strange opinion! Ideas can have huge power, for good or evil - thus they
can be very dangerous indeed. It's not at all clear why Paul invokes the
word "freedom," or what the word means to him, but in a world where ideas
had no power, "freedom" as I know it would be meaningless.

It is precisely because ideas are powerful that free people refuse to let
the government (or anyone else) tell them what they MUST think or MUST
NOT think . . . or say, or hear, or write. If ideas could not be
dangerous, dictators wouldn't try to control them. The First Amendment
celebrates the power of ideas, the most dangerous force on earth.
