X-Message-Number: 1598 Date: 13 Jan 93 01:56:12 EST From: Charles Platt <> Subject: CRYONICS Miscellaneous replies To: Cryonet Some brief responses: To Brian Wowk, Steve Bridge, and Steve Harris: Thanks for your excellent advice re neurosuspension. I agree, a brain seems less scary than a severed head--perhaps because "brain" sounds "medical" while a severed head, as Steve Harris points out, has very bad primal connotations. I suggest that Alcor literature might emphasize brains more than heads in future, when discussing neurosuspension. I agree, the paragraph that I wrote dealing with religion in the Omni article was weak. I apologize for this and have followed Brian's advice when dealing with this topic in the new Alcor fact-leaflet which is being sent out. The "Do not go gentle" quote is from Dylan Thomas, I believe. To Thomas Donaldson: I'm sorry if I gave you the idea that I think cryonics PR is easy. On the contrary, I think it's tough and tricky. Indeed, I have discussed various potential pitfalls in Cryonics magazine. And I have mentioned some of my own errors here on the net. --Charles Platt Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=1598
