To reply to Charles Platt:

Perhaps I come from a hard tradition. But I was not arguing in favor of being
frank because of its psychological effect. I was arguing in favor of being
frank because logically that is the only thing available to us --- short of
outright lies. And lies, as you surely know, have a VERY bad "psychological"
effect. Nor am I quibbling here: in your reply you claim that others will
see a difference where in fact there is none. Perhaps I respect the
intelligence of my audience more (and for that matter, its quite unlikely
that anyone could be attracted to cryonics without completely understanding
our goals-- even housewives).

As for becoming gods, if someone raises that problem I would be frank also--
though the first question I'd have to ask them is "What is a god, anyway?".

Incidentally, Brian Wowk explained quite a good way to deal with the neuro-
preservation issue, at least. As for immortality, what's wrong with wanting
immortality? I don't ask to be the only immortal, I think you should be
immortal TOO! So even if I can attain my goal I certainly would not be
depriving you of life at all.

			Best, and for forever,
				Thomas
