Tears are drying upon my face even now. I did have occasion to laugh as well but only once. What can I say I'm passionate about science, kinda gets me...right here. As the title of "Replica" suggests the subject matter hit home where our discussions on cryonet frequently meander. I have to hand it to Hollywood this time for really exploring the down-to-earth emotional issues that we often IMHO overlook in our academic loftiness. I don't want to tell too much of the story or it will ruin the effect should any of you get a chance to watch it. I plan to record it next chance I get. Suffice to say it really hits home on our identity/duplication discussions. One issue explored was the consequence of giving a new being all the baggage of the original such as extreme emotional pain from past events. We may discuss these things academically but till one suspends disbelief and rides along in the story so to feel a close as possible a little of what the characters are supposed to be feeling, well one hasn't explored deep enough into every crack and cranny of the issue. I could criticize the portrayal of the how the science was executed but it's a side issue. How the story creates a duplicate is immaterial to the consequences of fruition. I highly recommend this show and have provided a schedule for US viewing. Perhaps after more of us have an opportunity to see it I'll go into greater detail of the plot and how it was executed. I think it was quite cleverly done, but that's only my opinion.
