X-Message-Number: 1619 From: Ralph Merkle <> Subject: Appreciation for Platt's Comments Date: Fri, 15 Jan 1993 10:58:57 PST I'd just like to say I appreciate the comments made by Charles Platt on how to explain cryonics. The rather curious concept that "rational" people will, of course, see the "truth" and "irrational" people are either impossible to deal with or simply not worth it is one of the more pernicious misconceptions floating around in the cryonics community (and in the world at large). I think we should all take to heart the idea that how an idea is presented strongly influences its acceptance. The words that are used, the order in which the ideas are presented, the context; all are crucial. --Ralph C. Merkle Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=1619
