Of course, it by no means follows that some "disembodied consciousness," 
whatever that means, will last forever. However, I can see how people could 
wrongly infer this from stories about NDE's, interpreted in light of 
culturally contingent religious beliefs.

We know FOR CERTAIN that our biological substrates can sustain human 
consciousness, so regardless of what this research might suggest, it's still 
best to stay alive on the only platform with proven reliability.
