Recently you responded to an information request on the net and then said:

>P.S. I didn't see any response to Caroth's question on the list, so I
>didn't know whether anybody responded. Should this response have been
>posted to the list? If not, then how do we avoid duplication of
>effort? Should I assume that Alcor will take care of routine
>information requests that appear on the list?

Basically, we see two kinds of requests for information on Cryonet. The
first is simply a request for general information. The second is some
specific question or questions. Handling general information requests is
my job, and Cryonet readers should assume that I will take care of them.

Specific questions, on the other hand, can be answered by anyone. When
the question pertains to the various aspects of Alcor membership I will
often respond via private e-mail. However, this does not mean that others
are not welcome to respond via Cryonet. As a matter of fact, it is my
opinion that "duplication of effort" is a good thing when it comes to
answering questions of new inquirers. Remember that for every individual
who takes the time to post something to the net, there are probably 10
others with similar concerns who don't take (or have) the time to send
messages themselves. The answering of one question from a few different
perspectives will probably help pique the interest of these people.

Since I do read the net every day, I'll be sure to make a correction if
anyone is posting non-factual information. In the meantime, those such as
yourself who are inclined to answer the easy questions can save me the
time necessary to respond, thereby allowing me to spend more time signing
people up, which will benefit us all in the end.
