X-Message-Number: 16874 Date: Wed, 4 Jul 2001 17:54:05 -0400 (EDT) From: Charles Platt <> Subject: To Kevin Brown Kevin, it's pointless for you to tell us about the poor impression created by anti-gay, pro-exhumation, and other nutty prolix Cryonet posts expressing opinions that few sane or balanced people would share. We already know about this problem. But there's nothing we can do about it; and the people who make such posts obviously aren't going to stop just because you ask them to. While I respect your hands-off, nonauthoritarian philosophy, Kevin, I think you should accept some responsibility for running this list, and recognize that without ground rules, discourse is degraded by the people who shout loudest and longest. So long as ground rules are applied equally, they need not infringe free speech. Again I suggest a lower limit for any single post, and a maximum of two posts per day from any one person. Anyone should be capable of communicating within, say, 20 KB per day. That's more than 3000 words. Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=16874
