Subject: Re: My Last Free Will and Testament

Like George Smith, I too am optimistically hopeful
that at least some small degree of free will exists
among humans. I personally believe the most
significant aspiration of transhumanism is to finally
become truly free entities. But people who object to
the notion that our behaviors are, to a great degree,
strongly influenced by genetic and environmental
factors are the people that are really trying to feel
good about themselves and their ability to control and
thus take responsibility for their actions.
Admittedly, accepting the limits of free will is not a
license to completely defer personal responsibilities,
but too many transform "accepting responsibility" into
"self-blame" and "self-incrimination". Our need to
control our selves and our enviroment simply exceeds
our capacities. Balance is the key, as usual.

P.S. A postal employee told me today that the
$.05/e-mail charge is a rumor that's been floating
around for quite a while now but is untrue. I
searched currently proposed legislative bills and
could only find:

A total of 2 bills were found in the 2001-2002
Session. Results for page 1 of 1 (Max 10 documents
per page).

1. SB 602 - McClintock
          * Rancho Seco Nuclear Power Plant Study.
2. AB 602 - Cedillo
          * New Economics for Women.

Do you have a reference John Grigg?
