Subject: why smart people do not choose cryonics

Smarter people than me reject cryonics

I liked Mazanec's point that there are millions of intelligent and wealthy
people who have heard about cryonics and rejected it. I have the following
motto:

On any controversial subject, I can find people who know more about that
topic than I do, who are more intelligent than I am, and who hold the
opposite opinion.

This certainly applies to cryonics. Among the many researchers in the field
off cryobiology who reject cryonics, there are for sure people who know
more than I do about the technical aspects of cryonics, and who are more
intelligent than I am. I would like to remind most of the readers of this
list that they are in the same position.

This does not mean that I am ready to change my mind about cryonics,
because if I do, I will be able again to find more intelligent and more
knowledgeable persons (such as some of you) who support cryonics.

One of the reasons that I like cryonics is that it fills a void created by
the fact that I do not believe in god. That is, I use cryonics to alleviate
my fear of dying instead of a belief in an afterlife. I am curious how many
of you have a similar motivation, and whether it can define for us a target
audience.
