X-Message-Number: 17117 Date: Thu, 26 Jul 2001 14:00:34 -0400 (EDT) From: Charles Platt <> Subject: reply to Mark Plus Mark has complained about the lack of news, information, and commentary about cryonics on CryoNet. As I have observed before, seldom in the history of cryonics has there been such a lack of news and information. Paradoxically, never in the history of cryonics has it been easier, quicker, and cheaper to disseminate information--if people would bother to do so. If you're a member of an active cryonics organization (I am not), you might ask the people running it why they don't supply timely updates via CryoNet or sci.cryonics. So far, this year, with the exception of (I think) two posts from Jerry Lemler of Alcor and two or three absolutely minimal announcements of CI cases, I can't recall seeing any news or information from any cryonics organizations here. The people who run the organizations simply do not use CryoNet or Usenet to disseminate news. The only substantive statements are responses when a very few people such as myself ask questions. Similarly, anyone who wonders what's happening at 21st Century Medicine or Critical Care Research will find no information here; and shareholders in these companies are likewise uninformed, although the shareholders' meeting in August may provide useful information. I am still waiting to find out when this meeting will be held. We may wonder how it is that Alcor has done, I think, five cases so far this year, but has announced only two of them--so far as I can recall, without digging through 7 months of Cryonet archives. With the number of employees now active at Alcor, surely someone has time to post a brief informational message from time to time? --Charles Platt Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=17117
