Hi everyone!

Even though I personally have US insurance policies, I will say that
one of the worst policies brought in by the Chamberlains was their
policy that Alcor would only (in future) accept insurance from US
suppliers. Outside the US it has already lost Alcor some members
and may well lose them more ... not to mention that if you are a
member who joined before this policy, then you've basically been
put into the very small group of remaining Alcor members, while
everyone else joins the Cryonics Institute.

I am not going to argue about foreign versus US insurance policies,
though I will point out that they may be underwritten by branches
of the same company. Even if they are not, I sent the Chamberlains
a message when this policy came on, asking for cases in which
a foreign insurance company had failed while a US company would
not have --- and never got a reply.

In any case, this policy should be rethought. Foreign countries
aren't the same, and I would be happy to have policies from any
European, Australian, or NZ country. And the possibility of
policies from elsewhere should be considered ... the only thing
needed is someone who speaks their language. Basically it should
be the responsibility of the MEMBER, not the cryonics society,
to verify that the life insurance policy is good. Sure, he/she
must give his reasons to Alcor, and let Alcor check what he/she
has done. But it should remain the MEMBER's responsibility.

Best wishes and long long life,
