Subject: about reviving "dead" brains

Hi again!

To William Gale and whoever else may wonder about this: it turns out that
later work has expanded that time span to almost 10 minutes, with no
obvious reason why it cannot be expanded for at least 60 minutes. Even
Peter Safar has found methods which allow revival after about 10 minutes.
Although the quotation is accurate, it is now out of date.

Naturally any aim to increase the time during which some is revivable
will involve use of methods not now used. I would suggest that you
look up the 1998 tape from 21st Century Medicine (also available from
Alcor) of work on cerebral revival. The speaker was Mike Darwin.
Work by 21st Century Medicine has done a bit better than Safar as of
1998. Safar himself in P. Safar, NG Bircher CARDIOPULMONARY CEREBRAL
RESUSCITATION mentions work with animals which has carried the time
of revival out to 15 minutes.

Such work clearly won't revive anyone from vitrication or freezing.
What it does, however, is point out one obvious way in which our
present ideas have changed with current science, and may well change
more as our science advances.

Best wishes and long long life,

			Thomas Donaldson
