  I don't know whether the silicon bigots (just kidding, you non-carbon 
vermin) will count this as a 'machine', but we have an adenovirus which only 
activates in telomerase-positive cells. So it kills a high proportion of 
cancer cells (cures 20% of our disgusting nude mice with human prostate 
tumors), and combined with oligonucleotide antisense telomerase inhibitors 
(to limit the PDs of the few surviving cancer cells) is probably a great 
broad-spectrum cancer treatment. Expect to see something like this 
FDA-approved in approximately the Year Never.  -Bill Walker
