Henson raised an interesting point--apparently, we have an operating room plus various other facilities that we haven't used for nine months. It makes perfect sense, of course, for Alcor to have these facilities, since A) when we need 'em, we NEED 'em, and B) we certainly can't count on using anyone else's operating room when the need arises. But perhaps we could at least partly offset the overhead of maintaining the facilities we're not making full use of. Can we rent out the use of some of our building space, equipment, etc. without compromising our own readiness? Is there maybe a veterinary practice that could use (and would pay for) access to some of our facilities? Is there an ambulance company that might be interested in something we have, with the proviso that we get priority in its use? Perhaps ALCOR ITSELF ought to branch out and get into the ambulance-company business, with the explicit intent that the ambulance business exists to subsidize the suspension business? It seems that we have an emergency response capability, at least in some places, that might be marketable in its own right. If we really have excess capacity in this or any other area, why not put it to use? Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=1802
