X-Message-Number: 18225 Date: Tue, 25 Dec 2001 07:40:30 -0500 From: Thomas Donaldson <> Subject: 25 Dec comments Hi everyone! First of all, if it didn't come through the first time, MERRY CHRISTMAS. The thing to remember is that the times are different here in Australia from those in the US. We get Christmas ahead of you, but not by a whole day, just to make things confusing. This message, though, also has another subject. John Clark inserted a message, which he got from the Internet, about a new substance which increased the lifespan of fruit flies by 15%. Unfortunately other treatments have done much better; if this substance (unnamed) increases the lifespan of fruit flies by only 15% then it would be worthwhile to know such things as whether it did this by working according to a quite different principle to existing drugs, or what. I have noticed a variety of people giving quotes from the Internet on these issues, and even on damage caused by freezing. I too have used the Internet. However anyone who does so seriously should also see what is available elsewhere, starting with SCIENCE and NATURE and going on into relevant periodicals. Some of these, for instance, may be available on the Internet but only by paying a price for access. Just a comment about Cryonet: there's much more in the world than the Internet. Best wishes and long long life for all, Thomas Donaldson Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=18225
