A few days ago, my wife and I unfortunately decided to see Vanilla Sky.
Excluding the first 10 minutes with Cameron Diaz and the last 10 minutes with
the cryonics episode, the remaining 1 hour and 20 minutes was a huge waste of
time. During the screening, several people actually walked out. I wanted
to, as it was the most boring, tedious film I've seen in a long time.
However, being a member of this group, I wanted to see how everything tied in
with life-extension-cryonics-etc.

In discussing the movie a few days later with several couples who saw the
film, it was virtually unanimous that it was the 'worst movie they had seen
in a long time'. What was doubly unfortunate is that because of the tedium
of the film, when the tie-in at the end with cryonics was explained, they
were all too exhausted to much care or be interested in the subject. (We're
talking about graduate school-educated, 40+ year professionals here, by the
way).

If the film was 20 minutes long, I am sure that the viewing population would
have been 500% more enthused about the prospects of cryonics (as well as in
Diaz). The best analogy I can think of to explain the lack of focus, and
psychological exhaustion in viewing this film is running a 10K marathon, and
then, exhausted, your wife or girlfriend wants to make love. All YOU want is
that 32 oz bottle of water to rehydrate!
