Subject: Cryonics - a medical decision, not religious.

In Message #18383 Scott Badger responded to my earlier post in which I
wrote:

Scott responded by writing,
"On the surface this seems true, but I have taken a
rather informal poll of Christian-minded individuals
with the following questions:

"Imagine there's a pill that could keep you young and
healthy for as many years as you wanted to stay alive,
and the only way to die is to somehow kill yourself on
purpose.

"Q #1: Would you take the pill?

"Now, imagine that each pill only keeps you young and
healthy for exactly 50 years. (You can't stock the
pills to take later)

"Q #2: How many pills would you take?"

First, to be clear, Scott, MY response would be "Gimme all the pills ya
got!"

Second, whether the parameters of health extend to living one year or a
thousand, the fact of the matter remains that cryonics is a MEDICAL
decision, not a religious one.

Yes, there are religious groups which even today forbid blood transfusions,
for example. However choosing TO use a medical option remains a medical
decision. You may decide to NOT take that option based on religious
beliefs but the option offered is MEDICAL, not religious.

Without regard to any religious or philosophical perspective, it remains a
fact that cryonics is open to all and does not reject anyone regardless of
faith or non faith personal positions.

All are welcome.
