Subject: CRYONICS Match Saul's Pledge!

When I read Steve's plea - let's get practical, how do I make a $4200.00
payroll on Monday when here it is Friday and I've got less than $2000.00
in the bank - at first I felt a real urge to send him the whole $2200.00.
After all, its such a small amount, in the cryonics context of life and
death, that I had to really hold myself back. I rationalized: but you're
not even a member any longer and will not be until certain major changes
are made to Alcor; you are already giving all your money and all your time
to promoting the very research which some of Alcor's members and even
some Directors belittle - every dollar you give is a dollar less to spend
on doing the scientifically solid research necessary to reduce freezing
damage and make cryonics acceptable to the medical mainstream; do you
really want to give money to pay staff some of whom dislike you and are
not working up to your standards? Still feeling bad about it, I decided -
no, I won't - there are lots of others out there far wealthier than I,
still members of Alcor. They are the ones who should donate to support
the cause.

Tonight I saw Saul Kent's posting pledging $300.00 to toward the needed
salary. Though still a member, I know he has many of the same concerns
about Alcor that I do, yet he came up with money to help out as he has
done so many times in the past.

I am now ashamed of my hesitancy of last night and I'm matching his $300
pledge. Alcor, cryonics, my immortality, needs that $300 right now. I'll
make it up somehow so that it doesn't detract from my other important
cryonics efforts. I can eat out less for the next while, go to fewer
movies. There are a dozen different ways that I can make up that $300
without hardly noticing it. What's $300 with immortality at stake!
