Subject: Regarding Trygve's latest gift to cryonics....

I first read about this from an Associated Press article in the Anchorage News.
Along with the article was a big glossy picture of the revelers on parade!
The person in the lead had a mask on to portray the dead and frozen man.

I have mixed feelings about this Trygve Bauge inspired event. It will get
cryonics in the news, but not in the ideal way to say the least! Some people
say cryonicists don't know how to really party, but all I can say to that is,
"cryonics now has it's own version of the Mardis Gras!" lol

This is a critical time with the Ventureville community and Timeship coming down
the pike. I just hope this does not negatively draw away from such momentous
projects.

The really disturbing thought to me is that the frozen French couple may face
renewed efforts by bureaucrats at burying them due to news of this festival.
"See, look at those partying fools in America celebrating frozen dead people!"

I suppose Trygve believes in the classic saying "no publicity is bad publicity!"
I simply must admit most people in the cryonics movement have just the
opposite view. And as we ALL know, Trygve is off in his own little world where
he is a fullfledged media hound!! As one can learn by reading his recent posts,
he is quite happy with himself over this whole thing.

I would like to know how the rest of you weigh in on this new little
celebration. Will it mainly be harmless, actually do some good, or be a
damaging mockery to what we are trying to do?

best wishes,

John

P.S. Hey Trygve, what's wrong with using Alcor or CI to keep your grandfather
nice and cold??
