In Message #18848 George Smith responded to my post - "future planet?"

>>Setting aside the usual unending arguments back and forth
one interaction amounting to 2 reply emails doesn't really seem to fit this!
however...what a relief - it's quite unbecoming, particularly when folks
insist on taking things one says out of context. (I am happy though to side
with Phillip in all of his debates with you and say 'Hear Hear' to his
comments)

>>I will simply suggest that it isn't the end of the world ... again.
No need! I didn't suggest it was, I merely forwarded some interesting facts
and figures about a fairly significant phenomena. Though it does seem not
everyone shares your optimism. see post #18852 from [walkerbill]

>>The sky is NOT falling.
on this and all other counts I AGREE!

and as Thomas Donaldson so pleasantly replied
--There are lots of nice things about Earth that we could not duplicate
elsewhere.

So very true! lets hope that this space station plan happens sooner rather
than later.
Particularly when people start living longer. The sooner some of the burden
can be taken of this planet the better, for the sake of other species
habitats. It is encouraging to see advancements in space tech that
incorporate recycling principles. I just hope the money pit that fuels space
r&d doesn't suck the living blood from earth (metaphorically speaking).

You see george, I actually care about the continuation of other species as
well as our own...
I guess I had the good fortune of growing up near tropical rainforests and
mountains and learnt to appreciate nature.

I suspect the human race is quite capable of surviving a great deal of
natural disasters, but many other species won't. Those which haven't
already been wiped out by loss of habitat or hunting are placed in further
danger by global warming. It is a very great threat.

(btw george - have you travelled much? seen the world outside america? -
maybe you should think about going on a bit of an adventure for discovery)
