To Mike P.

I know how you feel. It took me about 1 1/2 years of
head-scratching before I leaped, but I don't think the
trigger was figuring out the exact probabilities of
survival and all the variables that go into that
equation.

It boiled down to a simple risk/reward equation.

potential reward = indefinite lifespan and all the
goodies that come with it

potential risk = who cares as long as it's affordable?

IOW, where else would my $42.00/month be better spent?
Some extra beer and pizza? More videos?

By that logic, I suppose I should be playing the
lottery, but I don't. The difference to me is that the
odds of getting frozen are much better than winning
the lottery and the payoff is immeasurably greater.

There's a universe of experiences waiting for me if I
win. And call me pollyannish, but I intend to win, my
friend.

Just my two cents.

Re: Rudi's post "Crossing Jordan" cryonics episode

Sorry I missed it. Considering that we're not likely
to get any really good representation on TV (except
perhaps that Hallmark film they wanted to make of the
First Immortal at one time), this sounded like it was
semi-accurate and presented both sides of the argument
(albeit simplistically). Probably a good thing and
somewhat encouraging. I don't understand the part
about the nazi salutes and them saying something about
life extension.

The HBO show, "Six Feet Under" has been making me
think of cryonics. This show is about a couple of
funeral directors and is quite popular. Each show
starts with someone dying. They fall off of a boat and
drown, or they choke on a piece of food, or they
commit suicide, or they die in a car crash, or all the
other myriad ways in which we can die. The show spins
off from there.

It's such a strong reminder to me that we are all
quite close to death, and how procrastinating on
signing up for cryonics is very, very risky.

Best regards all,

Scott
