Subject: A living head?

Have there been experiments of getting "living heads"?

To say, replacing the veins with plastic tubes pumping the blood/blood
supplement in heartbeat fashion, then disconnecting the head from the
body, probably nerve by nerve, and sealing the cut-off properly?

When done properly there should be on air pump to give a good flow to
the vocal cords to give ability to speak.

Am I just dreaming or could this be possible? What I have in mind with
this is living old as a dictating writer, or with my head connected to a
computer with voice recognition skills. Eternal life in Internet!
