(A significant part of this data relates to cryonics in one way or another.) The problem seems to be physical damage to the platters of the hard drive, and it would be helped (I think) if there were a way to recover the data of one platter independently of another. Apparently this is very difficult, says my data recovery service, who are at the point of giving up with nothing to show. Perhaps some computer-literate person can suggest something.
