Subject: CRYONICS Underground Vault

The Cold Room should be built in a 7m x 7m x 5m deep pit below
ground level. The top of the access cubes would be covered with
removable fire-resistant flooring planels flush with the surrounding
floor surface. You could even store things on this overlying area if
you don't mind moving them around from time to time.

Does anyone know how much it would cost to build a pit of these
dimensions with a reinforced concrete floor and walls? In any case,
this cost should not be considered in making comparisons between the
Cold Room and our existing storage system. Lack of vault protection for
whole-body patients has been a deficiency at Alcor for many years and
needs to be remedied anyway. This is the perfect chance to do it.
(Kill two birds with one stone, as it were.)

I also suggest that once this room has been thoroughly tested
and commissioned into service that the existing whole-body dewars (and
perhaps neuro vaults as well) be taken offline. This will save floor
space and operating costs. Will there be any harm in moving patients
stored at -196'C to a -130'C environment?
