REAL NEWS from Alcor would be most important for members who don't live close to their facility, and even more so for those who don't even live in the same country. For instance, while there are some news articles about cryonics here in Australia, I haven't noticed many. If the suspension of a baseball star caused lots of attention in the US, it raised only a slight sea wave here, particularly amid lots of other things. Just to raise some hairs on the back of people's necks, I think one good thing Mike Darwin did when he was at Alcor was precisely to give NEWS. He may have had lots of faults, and have been hard to work with, but I think that the issues of CRYONICS that came out after he left Alcor, even though much more colorful and snazzy, are trivia compared to those when he was Editor. Snazzy photos and good design utterly fail to make up for a comparative lack of news. And yes, at first I thought that the Alcor PHOENIX might make up for the lack in CRYONICS, but it hasn't been appeared very regularly. If the leaders of Alcor which to contemplate the complexities of their bellybuttons, they have a right to do so. Whether they're keeping in touch with their members is another matter. Best wishes and long long life to all, Thomas Donaldson Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=20387
