X-Message-Number: 20620 From: "John de Rivaz" <> Subject: Reanimation Foundation Date: Sun, 15 Dec 2002 11:48:00 -0000 I have recently updated http://www.cryonics-europe.org/reanimation.htm to make it slightly clearer, and the change has been approved by them. Basically the addition is >> Your contribution doesn't have to be immediate cash -- you can take out a life policy for this or a greater amount and name the Reanimation Foundation the beneficiary, and your account will be opened when they get the money upon your cryopreservation. << "this" being the $25,000 minimum amount previously mentioned. Separate reanimation accounts are a controversial issue. On the one had, there are those that say send as much money as possible to your cryonics service provider (CSP) -- there is no point in having a cast iron trust if your body is lost through lack of funds. On the other hand, there are those that say that if your CSP were to fail, then a totally separate organisation that could transfer your body to another one may be your only hope. Of course if this is your aim then your RF account would have to be enough to support the highest amount likely ever to be charged for a cryopreservation, and not only that but be sufficient to keep up with inflation allowing for the fact that only a small amount of interest can accrue because of the costs of running these perpetual trusts. Nothing is simple, clear cut or easy :-) -- Sincerely, John de Rivaz: http://John.deRivaz.com for websites including Cryonics Europe, Longevity Report, The Venturists, Porthtowan, Alec Harley Reeves - inventor, Arthur Bowker - potter, Holistics, de Rivaz genealogy, Nomad .. and more Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=20620
