X-Message-Number: 20643 From: "John de Rivaz" <> Subject: Two unrelated and slightly off topic items: Voyager and Norwalk sites Date: Tue, 17 Dec 2002 17:56:34 -0000 Here are a couple of slightly off topic items that may interest several people on these lists: Many cryonicists are interested in space exploration and indeed see expansion into space as being a means of providing room for humanity when ageing is curable. In addition, there has been speculation that for cryonicists to become beings that can live for cosmic duration rather than "just" a few thousand years a transition from the human form to some diffuse space living lifeform may be necessary. Also, some cryonicists see cryonics as a means to be able to witness an extended series of space explorations - imagine a probe to Proxima Centauri, for example. Only people with indefinite lifespans would bother to do such a thing. I have received a press release of a TV show that does a lovely job of detailing the Voyager mission and its scientific, cultural and historical significance, from the point of view of the individuals involved. It will be shown in the USA early in January and I hope to have its UK schedule soon. Here is a link to a copy of the press release I have put up for those interested. http://john.derivaz.com/cosmicjourney.htm The other item is a link to a directory on the Longevity Report site concerning the Norwalk virus and proposals for its total extermination. This is mainly a links site and puts together links to articles from professionals who are working for a solution rather than just ringing their hands and saying that nothing can be done. http://www.longevity-report.com/norwalk/index.htm -- Sincerely, John de Rivaz: http://John.deRivaz.com for websites including Cryonics Europe, Longevity Report, The Venturists, Porthtowan, Alec Harley Reeves - inventor, Arthur Bowker - potter, Holistics, de Rivaz genealogy, Nomad .. and more Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=20643
